Presented is a lovely set of 6 sterling silver swan shaped salt cellars, with glass liners and spoons. The swans are probably of Austrian or German make, and are made from 935 purity silver. It’s worth noting that this is actually higher than sterling, which is 925. The swans are beautifully made, very detailed down to the texture of the feathers. The swans have a gold wash inside and out. The glass liners are made to conform to the swan shape, following the wings and turned up at the end like a swan’s tail. The spoons are not original, but match well. The set is in great overall condition. As the photo points out, one of the glass liners has a small chip to the edge. This is quite hard to notice, particularly when the liner is inside the swan. Otherwise the liners are in great shape. The silver has no breaks, no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The underside of each swan is stamped’sterling’ as well as 935 and the retail mark for J. 935 is actually a higher purity than sterling, which is 925. The spoons are stamped Westmoreland and sterling. Each swan is about 2 1/4 inches tall. The spoons are about 2 1/2 inches long. The total silver weight for the set, without the glass liners, is 306 grams or 10.8 regular ounces.
