Fitted with two thick glass scalloped sea shell shaped cellars decorated with fluting, etched frosted and clear with floral intaglio engraving. Elegant Louis XVI styling to the sterling silver mounts, including a central handle patterned with foliage and stylized acanthus. Centered by an oval medallion cartouche surrounded by beading, foliage and C-scrolls. Resting on a pedestal base embellished in guilloche engraving and beaded trim with a stylized engraved cartouche is monogrammed with initials M. Stands 6 1/2″ tall x 5 3/4″ across, 2 5/8 diameter base. Hallmarks to the handle and base. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of. 950/1000 purity in use from 1838 95% pure silver and a higher grade than the standard.
