Antique Russian Silver Salt Dish W 2 Salt Caviar Spoons Scoops Moscow 1866#4305
An antique Russian silver salt dish in the form of a small footed bowl. Comes with a pair of identical spoons / scoop servers, which can be used for salt or caviar. The dish made in Moscow, Russia, 1866. One of the spoons is marked for 1861. The salt dish: 1 1/2 inches tall; Top is 3 inches in diameter; Foot is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Weighs 27.6 grams. The spoons: a little over 3 inches long. The dish stands on a round, fluted foot, narrowing at the neck. The bowl is fluted in the opposite direction, with ribs that form part of the interest of the inside, which is also gilded. The border is scalloped with scrolls curving to flowers where the border is nipped. Very delicate and elegant. The two salts/scoops are beautifully made as well. The outside of the bowls in the form of sea shells, the borders prettily scalloped. Shaped handles lead to scoops. The dish isclearly marked both on the inside of the bowl and on the foot. C for Viktor Savinkov over date 1866; 84 for Russian silver standard and Moscow mark. Maker’s mark in Cyrillic (see’photos). The foot is marked with the maker’s mark and 84. The spoons are identical but are differently hallmarked. One is marked in typical Russian fashion with Maker’s mark and assayer over date 1861. The 2nd spoon has a badge with what looks like 3 animals in it and another mark with initials JWG. Condition: Generally good condition. The delicate silver is slightly bent, but a gentle push could probably rectify that. The spoons have no condition issues. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE. See our policies below.
