A beautiful silver Russian salt throne or cellar fresh from a Connecticut home. The throne measures just short of 3″ high, 2 3/8″ at the widest and is 2 deep. It weighs 3.30 troy ounces or 102.8 grams. There are no breaks, bends, dents or repairs. There is very l ight wear to the gold plate and some wear to the niello finish. The gold leaf on recessed surfaces is worn. The bottom of the throne bears the assayer’s mark, the 84 standard mark, the city mark for Moscow and the date of 1889. Below those is the maker mark of Mikhail Ovchinnikov. The lid bears the assayer initials B. Along with the 84 standard mark and the Moscow city mark on the underside.
