DESCRIPTION: The price is for the pair. These are coin silver (solid 900/1000 silver) not Sterling silver (solid 925/1000 silver). Antique matching pair of coin silver salt cellars. Marked with a faded Gorhams left facing lion mark and “C” “n” for Coin on bottom (pic #7). So these date pre Civil war era to the late 1850s. Above the Gorham mark is the JE Caldwell & Co. JE Caldwell were the retailers. The hallmarks are worn and faded but there is enough to see maker and retailer. These are both Coin silver (90% solid silver) and not Sterling (92.5% solid silver). Great form and style. Fabulous detailed lions heads on the 4 corners ending on paw feet. Both monogrammed with what looks like a “M”. The open salts are around 150 years old. Fair condition for age. Some small dimple ding dents on both. Upon close inspection you may notice some very minor light scratches from normal use and age (typical for pieces of this age) Beautiful old matching antique salt cellars. Tested and guaranteed coin silver. Price is for the pair. Measures about 3 1/8″ by 2 1/8″ and 1 5/8 tall. Total weight for both weighed together is about 145 grams for the pair (weighed on Postal scale).
