This impressive pepperette is embellished with chased decoration reproducing the details of the game bird’s plummage and features. The pepperette retains the original fully hallmarked push fit cover/head which features pierced’pepper’ holes. This impressive sterling silver piece was crafted by the silversmiths Charles Henry Townley & John William Thomas of Thomas of New Bond Street. Such original period pieces are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. This antique silver novelty pepperette is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. Full hallmarks struck to the base of the pepperette and part hallmarks to the rim of the cover/head are all very clear.
