Pair of Victorian hallmarked Silver Salt Cellars/Dishes (Liners & Spoons) 1899
Pair of Antique Sterling Silver Salt Cellars. These beautiful salt cellars have sterling silver frames. They are of quatrefoil form and the sides have been exquisitely pierced and decorated with finely crafted flora and foliage. Around the bases there is a line of beading and the cellars sit on four ball feet. They come with their original blue glass liners and have had silver condiment spoons matched to them The cellars are hallmarked for Sheffield 1899 with the makers mark of John Round & Son Ltd. The spoons are hallmarked for Birmingham 1911 with the makers mark of Cooper Brothers. Although these were designed for salt, they could be used for any condiment or even as trinket dishes. These cellars are in wonderful condition with no dents or dints and they stand nice and level on the feet. Astonishingly, the fine pierced decoration hasnt been damaged by use or cleaning so even the tiniest filaments are still in place. Please note that these pieces need to be cleaned with extreme care to prevent snagging and damage. Both liners are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The spoons have no dents, kinks or wear. Please note that I will shortly be listing two more identical salt cellars. Unfortunately, these have suffered damage which will be reflected in their asking price. Length – 6.3 cm (2.5) Width – 4.2 cm (1.7) Height – 3.6 cm (1.4) to the top of the liners 3 cm (1.2) to the silver rims Spoons – 7.2 cm (2.8) long Weight – 22 grams & 23 grams (weight of silver frames alone) 76 grams & 73 grams (weights of cellars including liners) 6 grams & 6 grams (weight of spoons). Please see the photos below and feel free to get in touch with any questions. Prices are calculated to include the weight of packaging as well as the weight of the item. T charge for packaging. To ensure items are safe in transit, I package them very well and, unfortunately, this does increase mailing costs somewhat. All packages must be signed for upon receipt. Should you wish to return an item, please contact me as soon as possible after receiving it. I source and re-home high quality antique and vintage silver at wholesale prices. On the odd occasion, I come across something that might have had a bit of a rough life but deserves a second chance rather than being consigned to the melting pot. In all cases, because buyers are purchasing from a distance, I always provide in-depth condition reports and multiple high-magnification images in my listings to give you as much information as possible.
