Antique Chinese Silver Salt Cellar. This beautiful salt cellar is made from solid silver in cauldron form. Around the body, there are two applied Dragons in relief either side of a heart-shaped cartouche inscribed with the initials EI. The cellar sits on three decorative feet with dragon head joints and the interior of the dish is gilded. It has a makers mark KW (which I cant identify) beneath another mark which I cant decipher. I have personally tested this piece and found the metal to be around 90% silver purity. From its style, I would estimate this piece to date from the late 19. This piece is in lovely condition with no visible damage and the decorative work is wonderfully crisp. Although it stands nice and level, one of the feet seems slightly off vertical and there is a small bruise around it suggesting it has received a knock at some stage. The interior gilding is still quite rich although there are some tiny spots here and there where it has worn away.
