Antique early 20th century French Belle Epoque era sterling silver & vermeil salt cellar set, comprising of four open salt cellars with glass inserts and salt spoons made by Gabert & Conreau, active from 1901. Having round bodies with Art Nouveau style clover decoration, gold-gilt interiors, and sitting on flat bases. Each of the salt spoons has a shell shaped vermeil bowl. The set is complete and finely housed within the original cream satin and red velvet lined presentation box. In good antique condition with normal general wear. A bit of tarnish and some age corrosion to the gilt interior of the cellars and to the spoons; no large dents, breaks or repairs. No chips or cracks to the glass inserts. Each piece is hallmarked with the post 1838 French Minerva 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver. Maker’s marks are for Gabert & Conreau, active from 1901 to 1906 at 24 rue Beaubourg in Paris. Salt cellars measure 1 3/8″ or 3,5 cm tall x 2″ or 5 cm in diameter. Spoons measure 2 5/8 or 6,6 cm length. Total weight of the silver: 79gr. Total weight with box: 513gr. The box is in fine shape, only some minor surface marks to the exterior. Label inside the lid reads the the name of the retailer: Tricot Meunier, FOURMIES.
