These two beautiful sterling silver salt cellars in simple bowl form with hand-hammered finish were made by the important silversmith Karl F. Leinonen in the early days of the Handicraft Shop in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1903. To the base they are marked with the Handicraft Shop mark, “Sterling”, “1903” and L for Leinonen, who was head silversmith and foreman. These rare pieces remain in very good vintage condition with surface wear consistent with age and prior use, and bear no monograms!
