Welcome to William Sharpe Antiques. Here today for your consideration we have this wonderful Art Deco sterling silver and cut glass open salt cellar with matching spoon, made by Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd of London, c-1936 (and 1941 for the spoon). This handsome piece stands atop four claw feet having an oval cauldron shape body before terminating at a pie crust rim. The spoon takes on similar themes, with the original blue glass liner finishing the set beautifully. Condition is good throughout, with no major damage to note. The glass has a single fleabite (possible a manufacturing flaw) to the rim, mentioned only for extreme accuracy. A very nice set indeed for the collection. The piece stands 3.5cm tall and measures about 5.5cm x 7.5cm across the rim, and the spoon having an overall length of 7cm. Unpacked, the set weighs in at 97gms with the silver content accounting for 49gms of this. Don’t miss out! To see my other items! Sterling silver offered at William Sharpe Antiques is original and authentic, showing signs of use over its life. Unless expressly stated above, all pieces are free from major structural damage. However, normal signs of use including shallow depressions, fine scratches, and minor pattern and hallmark wear should be expected. All pieces (unless expressly stated above) have undertaken a very light polish with respect to the original patina, and a decision for further polishing will be left to the new custodian.
