Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous 19th Century Sterling Silver pedestal base salt cellar with elaborate Repousse design. Measures 2″ high with a 2 1/2″ diameter top. Design features elaborate chased Repousse floral design with “egg & dart” upper rim and matching band around base. There are two matching designs on the rounded center body with an oval cartouche in the center front for monogram (unused). The silver is in excellent Estate condition with no significant dents or dings although the base is just ever-so-slightly “out of round”. The salt stands flat and this minor flaw is not even noticed. Marked “Sterling, 100″ on base. We are listing them separately as the floral design is of a different flower on each one and there are three florals around the body of the second salt cellar with no cartouche for monogram. Both salts are marked the same and the designs are otherwise identical so we believe they were made by the same company as part of a set from a series with assorted floral motifs.
