The surface of these Russian salts are embellished with fine and impressive cloisonné scrolling foliate designs using various tones of blue, red, green and white sections of polychrome enamel, all on a matte gilded background. The enamel designs are encompassed with applied silver paralleling rope twist ornamentation. The upper and lower rims are further accented with paralleling bands of white enamel circular motifs. The anterior and interior surfaces of these antique salts retain the original gilding. The hallmarks to the underside of these Rissuan antique salts include. Silver quality/purity mark: 84 (84 zolotniks). City Mark: St George slaying the dragon (Moscow, Russia).
