2 Victorian Sterling Silver Salt Cellars. These gorgeous and very unusual salt cellars are made from sterling silver. They are of pedestal form with exquisitely decorated with pierced rims, a band of flora and scrolls to the lower body and fluting to the top of the stems and the rims of the feet. They are presented with a pair of glass liners. Although they are the right diameter, Im not sure if theyre original as they sit slightly proud of the rims and the bases are flat. Ive matched a pair of silver salt spoons to the cellars. Both cellars are hallmarked for London 1895 with the makers mark of George Maudsley Jackson of Josiah Williams & Co. Both spoons are hallmarked for Birmingham 1922. The cellars are in beautiful condition with no dents, dints or splits and the decorative detail is very crisp. The spoons are in good condition although theres a small dink to the nose of one. They have a few pitting marks from contact with salt which can be seen in the photos but arent very noticeable to the naked eye. The liners are in good condition with no chips or cracks.
