Here is an antique English Sterling Silver Salt Cellar. This piece is by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co, as marked as WGJL. This salt cellar has an attached lid, which opens nicely to a cobalt blue glass liner. One side of the cellar has an etching of what appears to be a unicorn’s head, as well as an arm and hand coming out of the clouds pointing to a star up above; on the upper part below the lid is the marker’s mark, which can also be found on the inside of the lid. The bottom of the salt cellar is also marked “Goldsmiths Company/112 Regent Street W”. This piece measures 3″ tall (at the top of the finial) and 2 7/8″ long x 1 5/8 wide along the bottom. This salt cellar weighs 175.9 grams (this includes the blue glass insert since we are unable to remove it). Gorgeous antique sterling silver salt cellar. Some patina & spotting.
