Antique Pair Salt cellars & spoons Sterling Sheffield 1902-1906 ID # & stamps
These two salt bowls with matching spoons are precious. They match each other in production style (9833) from the Sheffield England Sterling with a single maker/master/company John Round stamped JR in a circle. All four pieces (2) salt bowls and (2) salt spoons have the JR and Sheffield “Crown” and Sterling “Passant Lion” stamped into them. The date stamps on the bowls are: “O” 1906 #21; and “K” 1902 # Rd 290477. The spoons have matching date stamps of “q” 1908. The bowls are 3 inches wide at the top, 2-1/2 inches deep at the top, and 1-1/2 inches high. The spoons are 2-1/4 inches long. With different production dates for the bowls i. 1902 &1906 their id# stamps are naturally different. Look closely (I haven’t ever seen them match) Rarely will these even come this close to perfect matching years, and not here. All else matches from JR to location, to sterling stamp Passant Lion, and the spoons do match each other “q” =1908, but they do not match the the production dates of either bowls “k”1902 & “O”1906. Also to preserve their natural patina I have not polished them. The item “Antique Pair Salt cellars & spoons Sterling Sheffield 1902-1906 ID # & stamps” is in sale since Monday, April 03, 2017.
