Pair of antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver salt cellars. Comprising of two open salt cellars with matching salt spoons. The salt cellars are decorated with serpentine shaping, and patterned with Art Nouveau style clematis flowers on scrolling vines. Enhanced with gold vermeil interiors. Retains the original salt spoons, also with a charming clematis flower to the handles. Cut glass liners feature a lovely wheel cut starburst at the base. The set is housed within the original presentation box with fitted interior. The salt cellars and salt spoons are hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark. In use from 1838, the mark depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of. 950/1000 silver 95% silver and a higher grade of finesse than the standard. Bearing makers marks for Louis Ravinet & Charles Denfert, active 1891 to 1912 at 83 rue du Temple, Paris. Salt cellars measure 2 1/8 length x 1 ¾ wide x 1 3/8 height. Spoons are 2 7/8 length. Total silver weight is 41.8 grams. Box measures 7 3/8 x 4 ¼ x 3 3/8. In overall good antique condition, presents beautifully on the table. The glass liners are not matching.
