This is an exceptional quality silver salt cellar made in the reign of King George III by the important makers, David Hennell I and Robert Hennell I in London 1765. The salt cellar stands on three superb paw feet above lion’s heads. The salt is 3-1/4 inches / 82 mm wide and it stands 1-3/4 inches / 45 mm high. Made of very thick gauge silver, the salt weighs an impressive 172 grams. The underside has clear hallmarks – lion passant, London mark, letter k for 1765 and maker’s mark DH / RH for David and Robert Hennell I. The salt is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
