18thC TERRACOTTA CRECHE FIGURES ANGEL INFANT JESUS GLASS EYES NEAPOLITAN ANTIQUE
There are missing limbs and bits. I had them mounted years ago on a wooden base so they could be displayed. They both are beautifully rendered, and have polychrome paint and glass eyes. The infant Jesus is 6″ long with a 2 7/8″ silver gilt halo. Including the base He is about 7 3/4 tall. His lower legs are missing and His head has been broken and glued at some point. There is an identical Infant Jesus (attributed to Giuseppe Sanmartino and complete) with a similar silver gilt halo in the Metropolitan. The angel is 5 1/4″ tall, and including the base is about 7″ tall. He has glass eyes and is missing two limbs and missing fingers, and no wings…. Here is wear to the paint from 200 years. I just love these… They have that wonderful genuine old world look and display beautifully.
