The pair of double open salt servers you see here are Napoleon era fine sterling. 950/1000 pure – the top standard in the world, and are stunning with the Empire sphinx caryatid figural legs and the web and palmettes, acanthus – all motifs of the French Empire. An exceptional pair and an exceptional Silversmith, as well. Very good to excellent condition without any flaws or restorations to either of the fine old silver stands. We are uncertain if the crystal cups are original or were made later to replace originals. There is no way for us to tell. They are half-rounds and are deeply wheel engraved on bottoms as you can see – very fine, one insert has a crack running about 1/2 down into the body from the rim.
