Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely antique English Sterling Silver partial gilt footed salt cellar with engraved decoration, c. Measures 1 5/8″ high, 2 1/2″ wide and 2 deep. Marked with English hallmarks for “London, Sterling”, date letter for 1861 and with unidentified marker’s stamp with initials G. This nice silver salt cellar is in very good to excellent Estate condition with only minor signs of normal wear and age. The gold washed interior retains good color although the interior does show minor scratches from normal use. Has fancy engraved monogram inside cartouche on one side (see photos). There are a couple of very minor no-harm dings on the lower body where it rounds down toward the bottom. The salt cellar sits on three tall legs that have a wide embossed leaf shape at the top and a large paw foot at the bottom. There is an engraved rope design around the top edge. The design that encircles the rounded body is lightly engraved which gives the silver a very delicate appearance although the weight of the silver salt cellar is substantial.
