Offering an eight-piece sterling silver English salt set made in Birmingham circa 1904. The set contains three salt cellars, two shakers and three spoons, weighing 190 grams. They come in the original silk lined red case which measures 8 1/4″ wide by 7 1/2″. There are two matching open salt cellars, oval in design with a broad smooth lip. They have matching oval spoons. The third cellar has a pitcher/pot design, covered with a hinged lid notched to hold the third spoon. The spoon has a round bowl. The pot has a cobalt blue glass liner and high handle. All three salt cellars have a gold wash inside. There are also two pedestal salt shakers with snap in lids and finials. All salts and spoons have the same decor, deep repousse flowers and fern scrolls all around with cartouches on both sides. All silver pieces have full hallmarks: J G (Silversmith John Gilbert), an anchor (made in Birmingham), a lion (silver standard), and e (1904-5). The set comes in the original red case with ivory silk and cobalt velvet lining. No dents, damage to the silver. The lid on the covered cellar does not close completely. The box has some wear.
