For your consideration I offer this absolutely STUNNING pair of heavy antique Irish sterling silver Chinoiserie salt cellars. Each of the little salts stands approximately 2 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter and the pair weighs in at a whopping 8.8 ounces collectively. The salt cellars are the “Full Monty” of silver crafting with just about a little of everything in the decoration. The salts stand on a tripod of paw feet surmounted by stylized Chinese gents in Coolie Hats. The rims are decorated with a beautifully wrought cardoon and the interior of the bowls are finished with a subtle wash of gold. The body of each salt sports a central cartouche framing an armorial crest of a crown. Further decoration includes a Pagoda, a Beeskep, a Mill and a Windmill as well as flourishs and floral motifs. A full compliment of hallmarks complete the base of each salt. The cellars remain in excellent antique condition commiserate with years of carfeul use and thoughtful storage. Unfortunately, my images do not show these lovely salt cellars in their true glory but trust me they are exceptional. Addendum to listing: A very kind eBayer researched the marks on the Irish salts and found them to be William Nowlan.
