Captivating set of four french antique opaline and solid silver open salt cellars. Featuring treasured boulle de savon opaline, this elegant set is a rare find, indeed. It appears to consist of two separate sets; the original owners likely puchased the first pair during the late 1800’s and were so fond, they added to the collection a bit later with another pair. The first set has silver mounts on both the top and bottom of the opaline bowls, stamped with french boar hallmarks, guaranteeing a ratio of at least 800/1000 parts silver. There are no maker’s marks on these mounts. The second set comes with silver mounts (top of salt cellars, only) produced by Emile Printemps, circa 1900. The silver bears french minerva 1 hallmarks, indicating a fineness of 950/1000 parts silver better than sterling! The opaline is slightly “milkier” in this set; impossible to notice on the table, but we prefer to be thorough in our description. This radiant ensemble comes with four dainty solid silver spoons with room for engraved monograms for a personalised touch. Condition is very good with mild wear to the silver. There are no chips or cracks to the opaline. Measurements are as follows: Diameter 5 cms Height 3.2 cms Spoons 7.2 cms. As the items that we sell are often fragile and irreplaceable, great care is taken during packaging to ensure their safe transit and arrival. Items must be in the same condition as when received.
