Pair of rare solid siver and glass salts circa 1850. They carry the hallmark of an eagle which I believe relates to the Kingdom of Sardinia of which Genoa was a part at the time. They also carry the dolphin mark which I believe was the Genoa assay mark. They also carry another mark underneath CG which I believe is probably a makers mark. They are in pretty good condition for their 170 years or so and have real prescence. They still have a table use… But for mint imperials, nuts or chocolates on special occasions and are much admired. They are rather lovely. The glass elements are in very good codition with only very minor nibbles but nothing that detracts or could be described as a chip or crack. As you can see one of them has an old professional repair to the silver base but if anything I think this adds and makes one realise how much these were valued all that time ago. Sizewise they are about 75 mm high and the top of the glass is about 65mm across.
