Superb set of four Georgian sterling silver salts, fully hallmarked for London 1782. This is a very fine quality set of four silver salts made in the reign of King George III by the important maker, John Wakelin and William Taylor in London 1782. The salts are oval in shape with rolled top rims above gently curving sides and they stand on oval stepped pedestal bases. The inside of the salts are gilded. The salts are 3-5/8 inches / 91 mm wide and 2-1/2 inches / 63 mm deep. They stand 2-1/8 inches / 54 mm high and weigh 279 grams. Twp salts have clear hallmarks – lion passant, London mark, letter g for 1782 and maker’s mark IW over WT for John Wakelin and William Taylor. Two salts have maker’s mark only. The salts are in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
