HEAVY SCOTTISH’BRITANNIA’ SILVER MASTER SALT. This is a late 19th-century (1896) Scottish Victorian large solid silver salt cellar. Rectangular shape, with gadrooned borders and raised on four claw feet. Fully hallmarked on the underside. This is made of higher grade Britannia 95.8% silver and it is marked on the top with a Britannia stamp. Free from inscriptions or monograms. A superb heavy gauge large antique salt cellar. HALLMARKS: Edinburgh, SILVER fineness 958. MAKER Thomas Smith & Son. DIMENSION: 9.5cm x 7.5cm (3 3/4″ x 2 7/8″). Height: 4cm (1 5/8) approx. CONDITION: Good condition without damage.
