Cased Set Alexander Macrae STERLING 4 Individual Salt Cellars+Spoons 1865 London
Alexander Macrae SILVER Individual Salt Cellars & Spoons, Arthur Jack & Co Case. These pieces are made in London with the Leopard’s Head hallmark, it was certified in London with a left facing Lion Passant, and has the Sovereign’s Head duty mark. It is marked with a “K” in the font signifying an 1865 manufacture date. Cellars are 2 1/8″ across and 1 1/2″ in height, they have 3 legs and a floral pattern design. Spoons 2 3/4 in length and has a twisted neck, the handle has a Lion motif with a small decorative finial. The case has some decent wear especially on the metal pieces. The case is 7″ x 7″ x 1 3/4. One of the hinges has rusted off of the top half and the push button locking mechanism no longer closes or stays shut. The combined weight of the 4 Cellars and the spoons is 17.5 Grams or 0.56 Troy Ounces, an individual spoon weighs 0.5 Grams or 0.01 Troy Ounces, an individual cellar weighs 4.0 Grams or 0.12 Troy Ounces. Please see pictures for more details. Items are in very good condition. Cellars have silver wear and tarnish in the bowls along with some normal polish markings. Spoons have slight wear and tarnish along with some normal polish markings. Case has rusting on hinges and one has separated from the top half of the case. The locking mechanism no longer closes or stays shut and the leather on the outside of case is falling off.
