Vintage Sterling Silver Cruet Set. This substantial, matching cruet set comprises mustard and pepper pots, a salt cellar, mustard spoon and a salt spoon which are all made from high gauge sterling silver. As can be seen by the weight of silver and the standard of craftsmanship, this is a very high quality set. The hollowware is made in the Georgian style with reeded decoration to the rims and each sits on paw feet with cast silver lion masques connecting the legs to the bodies. The mustard pot and salt cellar come with their original blue glass liners. The spoons have feathered detail around the stems and terminals. Both pots and cellar have hallmarks that show they were assayed in London and have the makers mark of Edward Barnard & Sons. The mustard pot is dated for 1960 and the other two pieces for 1962. Both spoons are hallmarked for Birmingham 1959 with the makers mark of William Suckling. I believe they are still part of the original set as the making of spoons for cruets was often outsourced. Unfortunately, this set doesnt have a case although it will be presented in a brand new gift box. This set is in beautiful condition and the decorative detail is nice and crisp. The only damage I can find is a pinhead dint to the body of the salt cellar (as shown in the photos) which is barely noticeable. There are a few tiny opaque spots to the lid of the mustard pot and the bowl of the salt spoon but these are very small and will improve with good care and polishing. The interiors of the mustard pot and cellar have some black rub marks caused through contact with the liners. The liners are in good order with the exception of a tiny nick to the edge of one as shown in the photos.
