Antique to vintage French sterling silver open salt cellars complete with their original glass liners and four small silver spoons. Each cellar stands on four acanthus feet and features an ornate pattern of flowers, rocailles and acanthus leaves in the Rococo or Louis XV style. They have gilt, vermeil interiors. The salt spoons are decorated with laurel garlands and ribbon bow motifs. The set comes complete with a fitted presentation/storage box. In good condition with some age tarnish in the deeper recesses and surface scratches. There is some wear or fading to the vermeil finish. The liners are in good condition without chips or cracks. They may have the normal manufacturing flaws (like small bubbles) typical of old glassware. The cellars are stamped with the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark for. The spoons bear the 2nd hallmark for. His workshop was located at 114 rue du Temple in Paris. The maker’s stamps are worn on the salt spoons.
