Offered here is a stunning desirable Plique a Jour open Salt by the well regarded Danish Silversmith David Anderson. This piece is Sterling silver, with Plique a jour enamel shields on the side of the boat. The colors are vibrant Green, Yellow, Orange. This piece was made between 1888 and 1925, is in excellent condition, and the enamel is fully intact. If you look closely you can see a number of lines on the surface of the enameling, but this is completely normal and expected, it does not detract from the value or beauty of the piece. Length: 2 1/2 inches. Width: 1 9/16 inches. Height: 1 1/2 inches. Marked 925, together with David Andersons hallmark. Having been trained primarily as a designer for ceramics, he moved to Oslo in 1891 to take a position at Christiania Glasmagasin as a designer of fine glassware. Shortly thereafter, in 1892, he was hired by the firm of David-Andersen. His designs were awarded medals at the 1900 Exposition internationale in Paris and the 1904 St. Louis World Exposition and are now held in numerous public and private collections in the United States and European.
