1913 Crichton Sterling Figural Salt Cellars Neptune Nude Male Female Sea Theme
Gorgeous and incredibly rare pair of sterling silver figural salt cellars by Crichton Bros of London made in 1913. They depict a nude male and female form holding seashells on their backs and supported by dolphins. The figures have great motion and they appear to be swimming through the water. The bearded man could represent Neptune. They bear the mark for Crichton Bros, lion sterling mark, London lion face mark, and the date letter s for 1913. They are also marked under the base Crichton Bros New York & London. These are solid and heavy, weighing a combined 25.8 Troy ounces. They measure about 4 tall and 4 3/4 across. The shells hinge open and there is a slot for a spoon. Excellent condition with no damage. I absolutely love these, and you will too! Again, they are incredibly rare!
