Ornate pair of two French. 950 (better than sterling) silver salts with spoons. The salts have glass crystal inserts and the silver has lovely Art Nouveau style designs of acanthus and laurel leaves and flourishes. These are antique pieces that I acquired in France from the late 1800s / turn of the century. All pieces are marked with the French 1st title Minerve head hallmark for 950 (better purity / more silver than American Sterling) Silver. The dishes are marked with the maker’s mark for J. I believe the spoons were married to the dishes as they have a different leaf pattern. In addition to the Minerve head hallmark, they have an additional hallmark on the back of the spoon bowl that I have not seen before. Each Dish measures about 2 1/2 inches by 1 3/4 inches and 1 1/2 inches tall. Spoon are about 2 1/4 inches long. All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. No chips or cracks to the crystal inserts. Salts are in very nice condition with no deep dings or dents. One salt has the shallowest nicks on one side of the blank area. Both have stubborn tarnish and a spot here or there. But I like the nice antique patina and shine. Both pieces have surface wear and scratches from use and polish over the years. Still very usable items. Please see photos closely as this is not a mint condition set due to age of over 100 years. Thanks for stopping by my store!
