Wonderfully made oval salt cellar with, we believe, 1760s Paris marks, possibly, originally imported from Hanau, the sides with flower swags and masks below piercing and beading, on leaf splay feet, fitted pale blue glass liner. One was quite intrigued about the item’s origin and after some research one came to the conclusion that it is (the stamp to the left) one from 1760c. ! The other stamp remains a puzzle to me probably the silversmith’s mark! (3 5/32) x B. (2 23/64) x H. Condition: Very good but NOTE there is, underneath, a tiny crack to the frame – see applicable photograph – greatly magnified by the camera. ! This minor flaw can easily be rectified should one so wish but the flaw in no way effects the item’s balance. We have not polished the piece. The price reflects the mentioned flaw.
