2 Antique Sterling Silver Salt Cellars. This set comprises 2 salt cellars and 2 spoons which are made from sterling silver. The cellars are decorated with scrolls and flora with extended rims and the interiors are gilded. One spoon is original to the cellars and has a gilded bowl. Unfortunately, the second spoon is not original and is not gilded. It is the same length with the same-sized bowl but the terminal is slightly thinner. The cellars are hallmarked for Birmingham 1908 (although the marks on one are almost totally rubbed) and one spoon for 1907. All have the maker’s mark of Joseph Gloster. The matched spoon is hallmarked for Sheffield 1947 with the maker’s mark’HH’. This set is presented in its original blue-coloured case with push-button clasp, blue silk lining to the lid and blue velvet to the base. Unfortunately, the 2 elastic restraints that were originally there to hold the spoons have perished over the years. The cellars are in lovely condition with no dents or dints and the decorative detail is nice and crisp. The gilding in one is in very good condition but there is some wear to the gilding on the bottom of the other – please see the photos. The spoons have no kinks or wear and the gilding on the original spoon is still rich. Please be aware that, after 114 years, there will be some fine surface abrasions and marks caused through use. The case is also in very good condition with a working clasp. There are a few tiny scuffs to the exterior but both linings have no wear, fading or staining.
