RARE Magnus Aase Norway Sterling Viking Ship Salt Cellar Set IOB 1920-30s
Set is in immaculate condition with no damage of any kind and has the original glass lining fully intact with no chips or cracks. I believe the spoon is not original to the set as it is by Brodrene Lohne and the spoon does not fit snuggly in its holder. There is a history of the companies working together and acquisition, so it may be intentional? Still a fantastic collector’s piece in unused condition and to find one in its original box is so rare! Magnus Aase of Bergen Norway 1876 – 1953. Magnus Aase established his Silversmithery in Bergen in 1899, and was eventually one of the country’s best known silversmiths. In 1902 he and his brother Knut took over Theodor Olsen Silversmiths. The Lohne Brothers, both of whom received their training from Theodor Olsen Silversmiths, established the Lohne Brothers Silversmiths in Bergen in 1921.
