Antique English Sterling Silver Open Salts Victorian Repousse with Cobalt Liners
Outstanding pair of English Victorian repousse sterling silver open salt cellars with sterling salt spoons and cobalt blue glass liners. The repousse work is stunning. Maker’s mark J [pellet] H indicate they were made by Sibray, Hall & Co. Lion passant indicates sterling silver composition. Leopard’s head city mark for London. “D” date for 1899. The spoons have a hammered texture (lovely), are each marked “STERLING”, and have the open holes for salt to pass through. Total weight excluding glass liners: 2.905 ozt. Very nice antique condition; silver in need of polishing, chip to rim of one of the cobalt blue glass liners. Approximate measurements of each (may vary slightly). 1 7/8 foot to foot at base.
