I absolutely love the floral art nouveau design of this little silver salt or caviar dish with glass insert. It rests perfectly on its little curved feet with floral details all the way down to the table and pretty art novueau ribbons on the top. The glass insert nests perfectly inside it with no breaks or deep scratches. I believe the flowers are wild roses or perhaps cherry blossoms. This was made by Albert Deflon who operated in Paris from 1907 to 1920. So it is in very nice condition considering age. NO MONOGRAMS on it. Measures about 2 3/4 wide by about an inch and a half and stands about an inch and a half tall. Marked with the Minerva hallmark which according to my research, I believe means it is. 950 Sterling Silver according to other listings. It is definitely solid silver and not plated. Also has the stamp for Albert Deflon on the other side. Please note this is in estate condition with a few areas of stubborn tarnish and some light surface wear and scratches from use and polishing, a few more stubborn spots on the inside. I would say it is in better condition that most as it does not have a single ding or deep scratch that I could see, just the light tarnish. The glass is in great shape, although it has a few bubbles that were done in the making. The inside of the piece has goldwash. Really nice accent for your table with such a beautiful design! But Please note this is not in mint condition. Has been lightly hand polished. I have many more pieces of sterling flatware listed so please see my other auctions and create a set! I dearly love, collect, use and sell antique American sterling silver flatware and housewares including Tiffany and Co. Gorham, Durgin, Shiebler and more! I would be delighted if you’d follow me in my new store. Thanks for stopping by! Georg Jensen, the father of Scandinavian Silver, on the occasion of his 60th birthday remarked, Silver is the best material we have. The character of silver is satisfactorily obstinate, it has to be conquered and then it has the wonderful moonlight luster. [It] can seem like twilight, or, when it dews over, like ground mist rising. I COULDN’T AGREE MORE.
