Description: An extremely rare Imperial Russian silver gilt and guilloché enamel open salt with matching spoon, made by the firm of the Grachev Brothers, St. Of circular form, the exterior of the body enameled in a raspberry pink translucent enamel over an engine turned ground, the back of the bowl of the spoon, as well as both sides of the handle, similarly decorated. Struck with makers mark and 88 silver standard. Length of spoon: 2 3/4 in. Diameter of salt: 1 7/8 in. Grachev was awarded the Imperial Warrant that showed that the firm was authorized to produce goods for the Imperial Court in Russia. They were one of the more well-known competitors to Carl Faberge. Condition: Good considering age and evident use. Interior gilding is moderately worn with scratches and wear spots consistent with age and use. Enamel is in excellent condition; shiny and clean with no chipping or pitting. Slight fade to the spoon with some wear to the bowl consistent with age and use.
