The salts are beautifully hand chased with designs of flowers, fans, and basket-weave, all finely textured and detailed. The salts have heavy cast and applied rims in an acanthus leaf design. Each salts stands on four hoof form feet. The spoons are a marriage, but they match beautifully, with eye-catching bright-cut designs on the handle. The salts are in great overall condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are a couple of little dings to the cartouche on each salt, where a monogram was likely removed, but the silver is still thick and has no holes. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, and no repairs. Each salt is stamped with the maker’s mark for Kennard & Jenks, active from about 1876 to about 1880, when they became part of Gorham. The salts are also marked sterling and 22. The spoons have the maker’s mark for Albert Coles, and are coin silver. Each salt cellar measures about 3 1/8 by 2 1/2 by 1 1/2, LxWxH. Each spoon is about 3 5/8 inches long. The total weight for the set is 182 grams or 6.4 regular ounces.
