4 Antique 1799 English Sterling Silver & Original Cut Glass Salt Cellars. Presented is an antique set of English sterling silver and cut glass salt cellars made by John Emes of London in 1799. This is a very finely made set in a fancy form. The thick glass inserts are original to the sterling silver holders. The cellars are raised on 4 bun feet and the glass liners are cut with design. Each holder is marked with the crowned leopard’s head for London, a duty mark of the king’s head, a date letter D for the year 1799, a lion passant for sterling silver and a maker’s mark for John Emes. This set is in excellent condition for its age. One of the glass liners has a chip to its rim but there are no other damages and no repairs. Each cellar measures 3 1/8 by 4 1/4 inches and is 3 1/2 inches tall. Weight of just the sterling portions: 448 grams. Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution.
