Offered for sale is a single silver salt cellar on a tripod base by the exceptional silversmith Tommaso Panizza of Milan. The piece stands 10 cm. Tall and weighs 6.4 oz 181 grams. It is hallmarked to the underside of the base and the below the rim. It features classic Empire decoration of acanthus leaves and scrolls. The silver salt basin is loose and is not hallmarked but appears to be silver as well. The piece dates to circa 1840. Condition is very good but there are scratches and wear consistent with age and use. It is a used item, over 170 years old. Argenti d’epoca, Milano ca 1840, argentiere Tommaso Panizza.
