Antique to vintage French solid silver & vermeil salt set, comprising of four open salt cellars with glass liners and four small salt spoons. Each cellar features an ornate pattern of laurel wreaths, shells and swan-shaped handles in the Empire/Classical style. They have gilt interiors. The salt spoons are decorated with acanthus and laurel accents. The spoon bowls have gold vermeil finish as well. The set comes complete with a fitted silk and velvet lined presentation/storage box. Overall in good condition with some age tarnish, corrosion marks and surface scratches. There are two faint dimples to one spoon handle, visible on the front side. The glass liners are in good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. They may have the normal manufacturing flaws (like small bubbles) typical of old glassware. The salt cellars are stamped with the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark for. The spoons bear the Minerva 2nd mark for. The cellars are 3 1/8 inches (7,9 cm) wide with handles, 1 1/4 inches (3,2 cm) deep and 1 5/8 inches 4,1 (cm) tall. Each spoon measures 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) in length. Total silver weight is 74.4 grams. Total weight with box is 566 grams. The box is a bit worn on the outside but is in structurally sound condition. The interior lid lining has some stains from age. The hinges and clasp are in good working order. Measures 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) wide, 8 1/8 inches (20,7 cm) back to front and is 2 3/16 inches (5,5 cm) tall.
