A lovely early 20th century boxed set of French sterling silver salt cellars and spoons by Parisian silversmith Emile Bergeron. The set comprises of four open salt cellars with gold interiors and original glass liners and four matching small salt spoons. The set comes complete with its original fitted presentation box. In overall good vintage condition. As old pieces, they show some signs of age and use consisting of tarnish, darkened marks and faint surface scratches. A slight bit of waviness to the base portions of the cellars. One cellar has a visible joint where the two sides come together, probably a manufacturing defect. The glass liners are also in good condition. They may have the normal makers flaw (like bubbles) typical of vintage glassware. There are no other condition issues. The cellars and spoons are hallmarked with the French Minerva 1st standard mark for. Each piece bears a makers mark for Emile Bergeron, active from 1902 at 15 passage du Buisson-Saint-Louis, Paris. The cellars measures 2 3/8 inches (6 cm) wide, 1 11/16 inches (4,2 cm) deep and 1 3/8 inches (3,5 cm) high. The spoons measures 2 3/4 inches (6,9 cm) long. Silver weight (without liners) is 78 grams. Total weight with box is 747 grams. The box is structurally sound but shows some wear on the outside and the interior lid lining has few small stains. Measures 8 7/16 inches (21,4 cm) wide, 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) back to front and is 2 7/16 inches (6,2 cm) tall.
