Matthew Boulton Georgian Silver/Glass Open Master Salt. The sterling silver rim of this beautiful cut glass open master salt is fully hallmarked with Boulton’s initials and the date letter for 1802. The salt sits on a hexagonal facet cut stepped base, whilst the bowl of the salt has deep swirl slice cuts with a band of diamond cutting around the top. This is an extremely nice piece. The base is approximately 2 1/2” in diameter, and the salt stands approximately 4″ high; is 3 1/8″ long 2 1/2 wide. No damage (just the usual tiny frits on edge but only commensurate with a piece over 200 years old). There are some very light scratches inside the bowl – again, only what you would expect to see when it has housed a salt spoon for that number of years. A lovely piece of Georgian glass with a silver mount from one of the greatest silversmiths – good luck!
