Beautiful Large 1940s Swedish Crystal & 835 Silver Swan Master Salt Cellar. This beautiful vintage piece was hand crafted around the 1940s in Sweden and features the silver head, neck and wings of a swan attached to an ornately hand cut crystal bowl. The silver pieces are masterfully made using the repousse technique. The wings rest on hinges that allow for the wings to open to reveal the contents of the bowl. This gorgeous piece would have been used as a master salt cellar to sit at the center of a luxurious table for salt to be distributed to smaller individual cellars. This incredible piece is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs to the crystal and the wing hinges intact. Fully hallmarked with Swedish crown mark and stamped “835” for a common European silver standard of 83.5% silver. Measures 5 1/4″ long x 4 3/4″ high x 3 wide (when wings are folded in).
