This listing is for a pair of circa 1805 English sterling silver handled sugar bowls or master salt cellars. The bowls measures 3 3/4 inches or 9.5cm high, and is 5 1/2 inches or 14cm wide from handle to handle. Together they weigh 406.1 grams or 13.03 troy ounces. The bowls are beautifully decorated in the Regency style with an engraved border around the top rim with floral medallions alternating with a lattice pattern. At the front of the bowls is an engraved picture with a crown. The handles elegantly loop from the top rim of the bowl down the sides. They have a low round foot. They are fully marked on the bottom with the rampant lion sterling standard mark, the leopard head for the London city mark, King George III duty mark, the date mark “K” for 1805, and the makers mark “SGW”, possibly for Samuel Godbehere & Edward Wigan.
