A Georgian sterling silver master salt cellar. Round and deep bowl with figural rim. Stands on three shell and hoof feet. Few small dents on the side of the bowl. Please look and inspect all photos. Marked to the underside: “Lion Passant” for British sterling silver; “Crowned Leopard Head” into figural shield for city of London; dater letter “J” into figural punch for 1746; initials “TS” for silversmith (unidentified). Marks are not crisp and clear, but readable. There are some scratched identification symbols left by the previous owner, located to the left of “Leopard Head” Made in London, England in 1746 by identified silversmith. Pictures will tell you more. Width (between feet): 3-5/16in. Capacity: 3.38 fl. Weight: 3.58 troy oz. Thick-walled, heavy for it size. Dark spots you are seeing on the photos, are reflections of a camera and other objects. Commensurate with age, the condition is very good. Rare for its maker, pattern, age and overall condition.
