Wonderful 3pc Indian Silver Open Salt Cellar & Shaker Set with Cobras
Wonderful 3pc Indian Silver Open Salt Cellar & Shaker Set w/ Cobras. Presented is a wonderful three piece Indian silver salt cellar and shaker set. This set dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The set consists of two open salt cellars, with spoons, and a shaker. The salt cellars and shaker are beautifully hand chased with intricate floral and foliate designs, against a finely stippled background. The handles of the salt cellars are done in the form of stylized cobras. The spoons for the salts are not original, they are continental European spoons, but they match the salts handsomely. The shaker stands on three ball form feet and has a conical spike finial. Please note, the shaker is filled by unscrewing the little plate on the underside with the two dots on it. The screw is a hand-threaded piece of silver and seats very tightly, so you may need to use a bit of fabric over your fingertips to unscrew it. This set is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The salt cellars and the shaker are not stamped or hallmarked that we could find. We have tested them with nitric acid and guarantee them to be at least 900 purity silver. The spoons, which are a marriage, are stamped 800. The open salts measure about 3 inches from handle to handle and stand about 1 3/4 inches tall. The shaker stands about 2 1/8 inches tall. The spoons are about 2 1/2 inches long. The total weight for the set is 170 grams or 6.0 regular ounces. Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution.
