RARE LATE 19th CENTURY SIGNED CHINESE EXPORT SOLID SILVER SALT SHAKER. Applied 3-dimensional cast dragon coiled about columnar body. An unusually appealing example of classic form – displaying quality workmanship, detail and aesthetic merit. The domed foot with engraved and chased leaf decoration, the base and top of the body feature cast beadwork molding. A scaled dragon with gently tapered tail, claw feet and ferocious head encircles engraved cloudwork. Cover with waisted neck, domed and paneled head with pointed crest. The bottom carries a calligraphic mark of the unidentified Canton? Maintained in very good original condition – absent significant damage. Professionally cleaned and hand polished to warm luster retaining desirable patina.
